Who we are

We are community of mostly first, second and third generation Swedish Americans. Anyone with an interest in Sweden is encouraged to join.

Trollbacken has been held since the early 90’s by volunteers and teachers passionate about Swedish culture, traditions and language. You do not have to speak Swedish to participate. About half of our campers and counselors speak Swedish at varying levels, and the other half learn a little bit every year at camp!

We host the camp at Menucha Conference and Retreat Center in the amazing Columbia River Gorge. The sunsets at the pool are unreal! Food and lodging is included in the price. Menucha charges a little bit extra for special diets.

Our teacher and admin team is made up of current and past teachers from the Swedish Schools in Portland, Seattle and Vancouver.

We recently became our own non-profit and parents are encouraged to join the board!
